In Our History

The Savory Grille captures the essence of an intimate country inn. When fire destroyed the original hotel a century ago, this fieldstone carriage house, built in 1825, was revamped into a casual roadhouse. Today, a handsome oak backbar and deep windowsills lend character and historical context to the crisp simplicity of the dining room. “I love that this has been a meeting place for so many years,” says manager/co-owner Dorothy Doyle.

With the Chef

Chef/co-owner Shawn Doyle may be serious about executing impeccable culinary creations, but his approach to food is fueled by lively curiosity. “I don’t ever want to get bored,” he says. “The kitchen is my playground.” To that end, the menu evolves constantly, driven in new directions by fresh ingredients – from sources that include local farms and sustainable fisheries – flecked with global flavors. High-end culinary equipment, from a sous vide immersion cooker to a Pacojet ice cream maker, inspire Doyle to experiment with dishes that meld comfort with sophistication – while exciting the palate.
