From frites to brie-filled croissants and marrow bones to cassoulets, Maxim’s 22 is a French soirée
for your senses.

If it’s my first time, what should I order? Adventurous newbies who follow the “when in Rome” (or Paris, in this case) philosophy should take advantage of the Escargot—served with wild mushrooms and herbed garlic butter—or the Frog Legs. If you identify as a seafood lover, your first stop on the menu will probably be to the raw bar, which offers Tuna Tartare, Jumbo Lump Crab, and even an Oyster Shooter—Grey Goose Citron, Lillet blanc, spiced tomato, a quail egg, and salmon caviar.

What’s there that I can’t get anywhere else? Hamburgers don’t exactly conjure sophisticated connotations, but if ever there were to be a cultured burger, the Maxim’s Burger would be it. The sandwich comes piled high with foie gras, mushroom duxelle, raclette—a nutty, melty cheese—and caramelized onions.

Where are the ingredients sourced? While the restaurant has French flair, it also stays local when possible and supports nearby farmers. The beef used for the NY Strip Au Poivre comes from Lancaster—as does the chicken for the Half-Roasted Chicken.

Did someone say brunch? Sundays at Maxim’s spell sweet bites of Brioche French Toast—cherry vanilla ice cream, bourbon-bacon maple syrup—and savory mouthfuls of Chicken Crepes—stuffed with wild mushrooms, peas, and classic velouté sauce.
