This historical landmark has been operating as a tavern since 1811. Today, the charming and refined restaurant is in the hands of John and Susan Dale, a husband-and-wife duo devoted to the warm hospitality and comforting cuisine that are the heartbeat of Spinnerstown Hotel.
What’s the food philosophy? Made from scratch with seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and artisans when possible. Each dish is crafted with integrity for experience, sharing, and enjoyment.
What are we drinking? There are cocktails like Strawberry Basil Sangria, made with fresh mint and basil from the restaurant’s herb garden, but if you’re into beer, you came to the right place. You’ll find unusual selections rotating on 18 taps as well as new brew experiences: vintage beers aging in the cellar and cask ale—unfiltered and unpasteurized beer—waiting to be sampled. As if that’s still not enough, you’ll also find 400 bottles representing everything from Belgian tradition to the American craft movement. Also behind the bar is an eclectic wine selection, ensuring a perfect pairing for every meal.
What do the owners eat? Susan’s favorite is the Kobe Beef Sliders—mini-burgers stuffed with the delicacy meat—while John goes for the Irish Breakfast, served with grilled stout-braised corn beef.
What’s Spinnerstown’s best-kept secret? Both the guests and the staff are part of the family. Longevity is a cornerstone of the restaurant—not only has the Dale family owned and operated the restaurant since 1959, but some of the staff have clocked 5, 10, 20, and even 40 years of work.
