Co-owners Jay King and Mary T. Shearin first changed the BBQ game in Allentown with their tiny take-out spot, Baby Got “Que.” Now, they’re introducing Sugar Hill Jazz House, an elegant and lively restaurant that invites mingling over smooth beats (with the same award-winning brisket, of course).
If it’s my first time, what should I order? Jay’s Award-winning Brisket is smoked in-house for 12 hours. Don’t leave without trying it. Then again, you can’t go wrong with the Big Beef Ribs, enormous and tender smoked ribs that are slow cooked for seven hours, drawing deep flavor out of the bone.
What’s there I can’t get anywhere else? The kitchen is stocked with three ovens just for daily fresh batches of Mary’s original cornbread, but you have to move fast—it’s known to sell out early.
