With an eclectic take on American comfort food and nods to rural living and rustic simplicity, this contemporary eatery is split into a first-level spirited bar scene and second-story dining room.

What’s the food philosophy? One part transparency and one part mystery. Chef Tyler Baxter lists the complete components of each dish on the menu so that there are no surprises. What he doesn’t do, however, is specify how each piece will be presented—leaving diners delighted with his creative uses of ingredients and gourmet plating.

If it’s my first time, what should I order? Chicken and Waffles. Here’s what you’re getting yourself into: a housemade golden buttermilk waffle topped with three generously sized fried chicken thighs. We recommend dunking each bite in
the accompanying “spiked syrup”—New York maple syrup mixed with housemade hot sauce for a
sweet heat.

What’s there I can’t get anywhere else? Brand new menu items like Grilled Halloumi Cheese. Halloumi, a Greek goat’s milk cheese, is different from other cheeses—it won’t melt on the grill. Instead, it gets lightly charred on the outside and super soft and creamy on the inside with a strong, savory flavor. It’s served with compressed watermelon, cucumber yogurt, and quinoa salad.

What are we drinking? How about a copper mug of Citrus Mule, the bar’s twist on the Moscow Mule? Fruity peach and citrus notes make it ideal for summer, and its finishing touch is a scoop of super-refreshing sherbet.
