Cranberry Mint Julep

INGREDIENTS
- 6 mint leaves
- 1 oz., cranberry simple syrup (see below)
- 3 oz. Bulliet Rye
- 1 sprig mint for garnish
- Powdered sugar for garnish
Cranberry simple syrup:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup cranberry juice
DIRECTIONS
Muddle mint leaves with cranberry simple syrup in a whiskey snifter. Add Bulliet Rye, fill glass with ice and stir. Bruise mint sprig lightly with your hands to release the fragrance, then place in glass for garnish. Using a sifter, sprinkle a small amount of powdered sugar over the top of the glass. Serve immediately.
For the cranberry simple syrup: Pour water and sugar into a saucepan and simmer over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and the liquid is clear. Remove from heat, stir in cranberry juice and cool to room temperature. Transfer to bottle or jar with lid and store in refrigerator until ready to use.
