Sugar Hill Jazz House

• “This is a comfortable haven for the neighborhood to come enjoy their evening with live entertainment and good food,” says Mary Shearin, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Executive Chef Jay King.
• Carbs are sacred around these parts: the ubiquitous potato is celebrated as ceremoniously as their famous house-smoked pulled pork or brisket (available as a topping upon request). Not for the faint of heart, the Loaded Fries are fresh-cut fries topped with homemade BBQ sauce, cheese sauce, sour cream, shredded cheddar, and jalapenos.
• Relax to the stylings of a live pianist and sip signature cocktails like the Sugar Hill Manhattan, made with bourbon barrel aged maple syrup and garnished with a slice of candied bacon, when you come for happy hour from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the week.
• First and foremost, this is a southern BBQ joint, so if you’re looking for wings, you’ve come to the right place. These BBQ Hennessy Wings are a four-part labor of love: dry rubbed, smoked, baked, and then quickly deep fried for something equal parts flavorful and crispy to gnaw on.
• Holy umami. The Bar-B-Cuban is a twist on the classic Cuban sandwich, stuffed with house-smoked pulled pork, thick slabs of maple brown sugar candied bacon, homemade horseradish mustard, and, of course, their signature BBQ sauce. Rejoice: the sauce will be available by the bottle soon.
