More than just a restaurant, Youell’s Oyster House is a tradition. An area institution since the 1800s, it follows a “sea-to-table” philosophy, serving a dozen different oys- ters that arrive fresh off the boat every single day. These sustainably sourced oysters are prepared in an impressive variety of ways, from raw to Rockefeller and fried to stewed. Above the first floor, you’ll find an elegant mezzanine level dining area. Just above that is a rooftop garden, which grows seasonal herbs for the kitchen’s culinary creations, as well as bee colonies that make the homespun honey found in several recipes—and the honey brown ale brewed by Fegley’s Brew Works, available on tap at the spacious ground-level bar.

Did You Know? In the 1800s, Youell’s Oyster House was called “Rice’s Oyster House.” Originally founded by the Rice brothers, the establishment was sold to Bob Youell in 1938, who renamed it—and his descendants still frequent the restaurant!

Insider Tip: When selecting a side to pair with your dinner, upgrade to the “Chantilly Potato,” the twice-baked potato. You won’t find it listed on the menu, and you also won’t regret it.
