Paolo’s Italian Restaurant
theMOOD The homey ambiance of Paolo’s—where heady aromas drift from an open kitchen—provides a comfort zone that allows guests to unwind and concentrate on the important things in life: good company and great food. Whether you’re bringing the kids or bringing a client, this restaurant provides a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service.
theDISH With a sprawling menu and a reputation for extra-generous portions, partner-chefs Joe Sweeney and Paolo Nota, the restaurant’s founder, clearly think big—especially when it comes to flavor. Nota brings authentic Italian specialties to the table, while Sweeney, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, adds inventive American accents. Their menu features familiar favorites like Veal Oscar, Chicken Parmigiana, and Lasagna Alla Bolognese, plus an array of daily specials, such as Blackened Salmon Creole Style, Sea Bass Portofino, and a decadent Boursin-filled filet mignon topped with portabellas and crabmeat. A nearby farmer supplying herbs, tomatoes and other produce keeps these dishes packed with fresh taste. And premise-made goodies like Vanilla Chai Cheesecake and Tiramisu provide effective persuasion that there’s always room for dessert.
theGLASS Paolo’s patrons are invited to bring their favorite wine to enjoy with dinner—and there’s never a corkage fee at this hospitable BYOB. But don’t stress if you forget the vino: guests are offered a complimentary glass of red or white wine.
theINSIDE SCOOP Open continuously from lunch through dinner, Tuesday through Sunday, Paolo’s expansive hours accommodate almost any schedule. Reservations for seven or more are available Friday through Sunday, but there’s no longer a minimum to reserve a table Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
