Jessica’s Tea Room

theMOOD Cross the threshold of the historic Weaversville Inn to enter the gracious and unhurried world of Victorian refinement at Jessica’s Tea Room, an award-winning venue. Chef/owner Mark Prostko has created an environment where guests can “relax and reconnect with friends,” and tables appointed with lush linens and elegant china further enhance the yesteryear experience.

theDISH Fresh baked scones, dainty finger sandwiches and 50 varieties of tea may be de riguer for any proper tea room, but the menu at Jessica’s expands in a deliciously seasonal direction. By obtaining products from nearby farms and using organically grown produce from his home garden, Prostko puts a fresh-and-local stamp on many dishes. While delicate puffed pastry blossoms with a variety of fillings are a signature specialty, selections include quiches, soups, salads and sandwiches. At dinner, the Weaversville Inn—the restaurant’s evening personality—showcases regional American cuisine, from Yankee pot roast to Maryland-style crab cakes.

theGLASS A full-service bar enables meals to be paired with your choice of spirits, from beer and wine to luncheon libations like Jessica’s Royal Tea Cocktail, a house specialty. The tavern of this early 19th century inn boasts such vintage architectural accents as a stately oak backbar and pressed tin ceilings.

theINSIDE SCOOP From bridal showers to girls’ tea party birthday celebrations, an expansive special occasion room accommodates up to 70 guests and also hosts events such as “Tea with Cinderella.” A variety of musicians perform in this space on weekends—though on Sunday afternoons in summer the entertainment sometimes migrates to the “backyard” of the country inn.
